Donn Stone AIA
Principal
“Architecture is a lifelong pursuit for the enhancement of the quality of life for people who live, play, and work in all our communities.”
Donn was born in the Southeast, raised in the Midwest, and then relocated to the Northwest, moving to Seattle in 1971 during his final tour of duty at McChord AFB in Tacoma, Washington.
In 1974, Donn began a long apprenticeship in architecture, enrolling at the University of Washington and graduating in 1982, after an intervening two years of scholarship studies in Japan and travel through the Pacific Rim territories.
Following graduation, Donn began his professional career as a sole practitioner and lecturer at the University of Washington. He worked closely with Professor Philip Thiel for 6 years in his Visual Awareness + Design studio in the Department of Architecture.
Donn's experience includes working for both large and small design firms in Seattle, as well as leading his own company, Stone Design, from 2002 to 2008. During his tenure as a principal at Rolluda Architects in 2008, Donn has been instrumental in leading the firm's municipal and federal government work.
He recently completed an award-winning Lift Pump Station project for the City of Snohomish. The station has gained popularity within the Snohomish community for its unique building elements and its iconic role as the new “gateway” to the city.
