I.D. Village Square II
seattle chinatown international district preservation and development authority
I.D. Village II is located in Seattle's International District, across 8th Avenue from I.D. Village I. The project includes a community center, branch library, street level retail, and 57 units of family housing. Funding for the renovation was provided in part by the City of Seattle, Washington State Housing Trust Fund, and Low Income Housing Tax Credits. To provide building mass in scale with the District and Village Square I, and to provide strong civic identities to the community center and library, the project was conceived as three distinct buildings.
The community center is located on the prominent southeast corner of the site, the library located mid-block, directly across from the plaza of Phase I, and retail is located on the north edge of the site facing the heart of the business district. Residential exterior open space is provided on a landscaped roof deck above the community center, adjacent to the residential lounge and laundry.
Services for the project included pre-design through construction administration.
A rainscreen envelope design was provided.
