Robert Hale AIA
Principal
“Looking back on my career, I am very pleased to have worked on affordable housing communities and historic preservation projects that have made a difference to communities and changed people’s lives. I have personally found these projects to be very satisfying and rewarding and am proud that several have received awards."
Bob was born in Seattle and raised in Mukilteo, Washington. At a young age, Bob was impressed by his uncle Fred, who studied architecture at Yale and could never escape drawing pictures for the kids when they would get together. Bob knew he wanted to be an architect by the time he was in junior high school.
Bob was a partner at Kovalenko Hale Architects (KHA), a Seattle architectural firm that specialized in historic preservation and restoration projects, private and non-profit mixed-use, multi-family, special needs housing, and university residence hall projects. After 35 years, Bob’s partner, Bob Kovalenko retired. In 2014, Bob was not ready to retire, and he was very impressed with the great group of friendly and talented people at Rolluda Architects, so he joined the firm in 2014 as a principal.
Bob has been residing on Capitol Hill for many years. He is passionate about the outdoors, including biking, skiing, and backpacking, especially with his two brothers, his son, and daughter.
