Serene Lake Elementary School | mukilteo school district
Mukilteo School District's voters approved a capital bond in 2020 for numerous school replacements and renovations within the District. Serene Lake Elementary School, located in Edmonds, Washington, was among them with plans to replace the entire school.
RAI worked with the District to provide a master plan for the entire school, which would also increase the school's capacity to 640+ students. The master plan also determined which portions of the school would be replaced as part of phase I. Detailed phasing was carefully planned to allow students to remain in the existing school for the 2024-2025 school year while construction took place.
RAI met with the school’s programming committee, which was made up of parents, neighbors, administrators, and teachers, conducting a series of five interactive visioning workshops to determine project goals, guiding principles, program use, space needs, and educational specifications.
The General Contractor, Spee West, was brought on board early as part of the District's GC/CM procurement approach. Construction will begin in the summer of 2024, with an estimated completion of fall 2025. The project is estimated to cost $20 million.
