Sprinker Recreation Center Master Plan

pierce county parks & recreation

Phase I Master Site Plan: The purpose of the Master Site Plan was to assist the County with identifying priorities and a decisionmaking process for the future of the Center. Elements analyzed included financial performance and the potential for public/private financing, building and facilities condition and lifecycle, prioritized improvements and costs, an assessment of recreation use and demand, and extensive stakeholder interviews and public meetings.

Phase II Master Plan + Project Predesign: Phase II of the Master Plan developed a vision for future expansion and facilities improvements. Master Plan alternatives were developed utilizing the priorities established in Phase I. These alternatives looked at a combination of uses on site and how these uses could be phased over time. The project team worked closely with the management team, stakeholders, and the public to ensure the program reflected the needs and demand for recreation facilities in the area. Analyses included financial feasibility, utilities assessment, traffic impacts, forest management plan for the adjacent Bresemann Forest, natural resource assessment, and estimates of probable costs. A preferred alternative was selected and the site program details refined. The project predesign phase defined major building systems and components required for the preferred alternative. Richard Murakami led the team for both phases.
